Post Title: Assistant Psychologist- Research and Clinical Engagement (The Gender Identity Service)
Grade: Agenda for Change Band 5
Salary: £ 28,384- £35,365 per annum (pro rata part-time)
Tenure: Fixed term 12 Months
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 new Research and Clinical Engagement Assistant Psychologists to join the Gender Service provided by the Sandyford (specialist sexual health service for Greater Glasgow and Clyde).
Both posts are offered on a 12 month Fixed Term contract and may also be considered suitable for a secondment opportunity. About the Role
These roles present an ideal opportunity for enthusiastic Assistant Psychologists who will make a significant contribution to service development initiatives within the service.
The successful candidates will join a highly specialist Clinical Psychology and multi-disciplinary team based within the Gender Service at the Sandyford Initiative in the West End of Glasgow.
The Gender Service at the Sandyford offers a comprehensive service available to young people who are uncomfortable or uncertain about their gender identity or expression, and adult transgender and non-binary people who are considering feminising or masculinising treatment.
The service primarily assists people who are transgender to facilitate medical and surgical treatments, enabling greater comfort in the face of gender non-conformity.
Psychologists working with the Gender Service are part of an exciting and dynamic multidisciplinary team. Clinicians provide highly specialist assessment and intervention to service users across Scotland and provide consultation and training to NHS colleagues and external organisations.
The Gender Service is undergoing significant service development due to a marked increase in demand for the service over the past 10 years.
We are looking for enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist/s who will make a significant contribution to service development initiatives within the service.
Under the supervision of a professional clinical psychologist, they will take the lead in an important service development initiative to manage and remodel waiting list processes and procedures. This will involve direct patient contact as well as collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
This post holder will provide support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Gender Service providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
The post holder will also assist in clinically-related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
There are also opportunities for peer supervision. The role operates within the network of psychologists in Acute Psychology and CAMHS in Greater Glasgow and Clyde with opportunity for shadowing psychologists in other parts of the service and accessing continuing professional development.
There are also strong links with the Glasgow University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology course.
About you
We are seeking applications form candidates who will have an honours degree in Psychology at 2:1 or above and preferably prior relevant NHS or social care experience and experience of working with people with mental health difficulties and their families/care.
