We are seeking experienced reporting radiographers to join our expanding team. The role will be a combination of reporting and clinical activity across the 7 day service.
You will be an expert practitioner, with responsibility for providing autonomous reports on plain film radiographic examinations, including Accident & Emergency, Outpatient and GP-referred patients.
Your working time will be spent undertaking clinical and reporting duties; a minimum of 50% of your time will be spent in an advanced practice capacity which will be job planned; flexibility dependent on service need is expected.
You will provide expert advice and support to qualified and student radiographers, assistant practitioners and specialty registrars as well as promoting continuous professional development within the department through teaching sessions and communicating any technical issues needing improvement.
- To interpret plain film radiographs, and provide a written report for General Practitioners, hospital doctors and other healthcare professionals, and to be accountable for these reports.
- To be responsible for working within your own competency and referring anything outside your competency to a Reporting Radiographer colleague or Consultant Radiologist.
- To continuously audit your own reporting standards, actively participating in the peer review program along with the wider reporting radiographer team.
- To provide expert advice / support to clinicians, radiographers, student radiographers, general practitioners and other healthcare professionals.

- Provide high quality, accurate and timely reporting of plain film examinations from a range of referral sources.
- To work to the standards of performance and ethics laid down by the Health and Care Professions Council.
- To perform radiographic examinations to a high standard, modelling best practice and to supervise and ensure all staff provide a high-quality radiographic standard.
- To provide expert radiographic advice and teaching in plain film imaging.
- To contribute to the development of and implementation of a 7-day ‘hot’ reporting service.
- To report any equipment malfunctions or untoward incidents to the Superintendent Radiographer or Manager.
- To maintain high standards of appearance, professional attitude and punctuality.
- To observe Local Rules and Systems of Work for Radiation Protection at all times.
- To ensure that patient welfare and needs are attended to at all times.
- To act as a clinical mentor for junior staff in the x-ray department and for trainee reporting radiographers.
