Position Details

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators’ Data and Reporting Analyst is responsible for collecting data using software, surveys, and other collection tools; performing statistical analyses; and interpreting information gathered to inform critical business decisions. The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and attention to detail. A high level of professional commitment, dedication, initiative, flexibility, sensitivity to organizational culture, and a sense of humor are prerequisites. The successful candidate must also demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively as a team member.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Competencies/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field, in addition to demonstrated experience related to data analysis.
  • Ability to operate technology equipment and web application software related to position.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret large datasets.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey insights and findings to diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn new duties and technology-related skills as required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Possess a deep support of and commitment to the mission of public education in the state of Michigan.

Preferred Competencies/Abilities:

  • Experience in a non-profit, public school system, or higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and data modeling principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience in writing complex queries to retrieve and manipulate data.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to create accurate and meaningful reports.
  • Validate and ensure the accuracy and integrity of data used in reports by performing data quality checks and resolving discrepancies.
  • Design and develop reporting solutions, including reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present data in a compelling way to facilitate understanding and decision-making.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and insights from data analysis and present findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of Association processes and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to support ad hoc data analysis and reporting requests.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to data analysis and reporting.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position based in Lansing, MI, with a remote work option. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
