Job summary

The Release Officer is responsible for the daily running of the release section ensuring timely and accurate process of administrative actions, accurate accounting and recording and ensuring that office procedures are adhered to and that their accounting procedures and records conform to current regulations and audit requirements. They are responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance to aid the smooth transition from military to civilian life ensuring all HR procedures are correct and local electronic records are maintained. They are responsible for the correct recording of allowance databases and are to support the line management with the compilation of T1 compliancy records and weekly checks and controls for personnel leaving the Service. They are to actively engage with training and provide the highest standards of customer service.


This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

1. Administer HMS NEPTUNE's Release Office and act as the single point of contact on pay and administrative matters for RN personnel leaving the Service.

2. Liaise and correspond directly with external authorities on matters relating directly to the release of RN personnel from the Service.

3. To ensure timely processing of discharge documentation and JPA release actions.

4. Ensure JPA pay accounting procedures and records are to the highest standards and conform to current regulations satisfying national audit requirements.

5. Ensure Personnel Administration compliance procedures within HMS Neptune UPO are maintained and all HR related processes are actioned correctly and timely.

6. Examine JPA records and service documentation iaw compliancy procedures and address areas found lacking.

7. To maintain the LO HMS NEPTUNE MS Teams & Groups Site and associated Channels, in accordance with Defence Information Management Policy.

8. Act as UPO HR administrator in accordance with current regulations and as directed by the UPO Manager.

9. Provide HR guidance to HMNB Clyde personnel, ensuring enquiries received either in person, by telephone or email are answered quickly and accurately.
