Bath Cats and Dogs Home is committed to the welfare of companion animals; to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home pets who are unwanted and far too often neglected or mistreated and to promote responsible pet ownership through education.
All staff are committed to deliver first class customer care to all visitors and supporters (throughout daily activities) in order for the Home to successfully continue to re-home animals and to have the long-term support of the communities we operate within.
1. Purpose of the job
To successfully rehome animals according to their individual needs following the Homes polices and recommendations, ensuring the best outcomes for animals in the care of the Home and offering exceptional stewardship to those wanting to adopt.
2. Principle tasks
· Matching and identifying companion animals with prospective adopters to ensure perfect matches and loving new homes for the animals in our care.
· Coordinate and own all aspects of the rehoming process as first point of contact with potential adopters not least to include the provision and implementation of post home support packages.
· Liaise with behaviour trained animal assessors, animal carers and veterinary team to ascertain status and availability for adoption of animals in our care.
· Work with behaviour trained animal assessors to prioritise animals for rehoming according to their needs.
· Use a Central Management System (CMS) to maintain and regularly update the adoption page on Bath Cats and Dogs Home’s website.
· To assist adopters with selecting appropriate items for their new pet. This can include locating items within our Pre-loved Pet Shop to maximise donation amount and support the Fundraising Team.
· To provide exceptional customer care at each stage of the adoption process, celebrating each and every animal adoption and providing post-adoption support as appropriate.
· Deliver a high standard of professionalism and demonstrate empathy in challenging situations.
· Maintain information database records for all adoptions and those looking to adopt.
· Provide electronic reports as requested by the Animal Services Manager to reflect adoptions statistics and trend data.
· Be familiar with and comply with Home policies and procedures.
· To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.
· While at work all staff are required to:
o Take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.
o Co-operate with Homes policies and procedures for health and safety.
1. Knowledge, skills and experience
a. Education qualifications:
i. GCSE Maths and English minimum Grade C
b. Recognised Qualifications:
i. Animal Care NVQ qualification desirable.
ii. First Aid at work/EFAW desirable (willingness to undertake).
iii. Fire Marshall desirable (willingness to undertake).
iv. Current and clean driving license.
c. Competence/ Experience:
i. Proven experience of working with and understanding the welfare needs of animals in an animal care or administration role.
ii. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
iii. Proven customer care experience particularly in challenging situations.
Skills
· Proficient in Microsoft packages particularly Excel & Word – Essential.
· Database experience – Essential.
· Bespoke software experience.

4. Job Context
Work is carried out within general guidelines in accordance with the RSPCA Licensing Scheme and other relevant Branch policies and procedures. Field officer audit reports provide additional general guidance.
5. Additional information
§ The post holder may be required to attend training courses which will involve travel.
§ The post holder may be required to drive the Homes vehicle on matters of business.
