Accounting and Regulatory Policy (Policy) is a global function within Finance which supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by providing independent advisory and review services in relation to matters of Accounting and Basel-based Regulation for a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. As a result of this focus, Policy plays a key role in client advisory activities and major Firm projects, helping to shape and influence the future strategy of the Firm.

Following a recent expansion of team scope and responsibilities, a Director (AVP/Manager equivalent) opportunity has arisen within the Glasgow Policy team, which operates as a centre of excellence for the global Policy team. Reporting to a Vice President, the role will specifically focus on Regulatory Policy, providing the opportunity to be at the forefront of developments in Regulation impacting the UK and beyond, including Basel IV and the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR 3).

About Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services.
As a market leader, the talent and passion of our people is critical to our success. Together, we share a common set of values rooted in integrity, excellence, and strong team ethic. We can provide a superior foundation for building a professional career – a place for people to learn, to achieve and grow. A philosophy that balances personal lifestyles, perspectives and needs is an important part of our culture.

What will you be doing?
You will play a key role in Morgan Stanley Global Regulatory Policy Management, working with senior stakeholders in the US and EMEA.
You will help execute the team's global regulatory horizon scanning, including monitoring of sources, technical review of new publications and communication to subject matter experts (SMEs) and Firm stakeholders.
You will provide assistance in delivering the implementation and roll out of a new digital tooling solution for the team's Regulatory horizon scanning process, including testing and training.
You will be involved in helping to train our internal stakeholders on technical matters, including key regulatory updates identified through the team's horizon scanning process.
You will develop SME knowledge on areas of Basel-based Regulation, have the opportunity to work alongside cross-functional teams on major Firm implementation projects, including Basel IV and CRR 3, and assist with the resolution of ad-hoc advisory queries from internal stakeholders.

What we’re looking for:
Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate technical material to various levels of experience/knowledge both in written and verbal form.
An interest in working in a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple high priority deliverables.
Knowledge of Basel-based Regulation and/or a keen desire to develop SME knowledge in areas of regulatory policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills that will help you in the role:
    Qualified CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent.
The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Prior experience of working in a financial services environment.

Where you will be working:
Located in Glasgow's dynamic International Financial Services District, our office has an open, diverse, thriving company culture. In 2000, we founded our Glasgow office with just six employees. Since then, our office has grown to more than 1,400 people in our Glasgow office. We have an open, inclusive culture that empowers employees to reach their individual and professional goals. We encourage everyone who works here to think like owners and take pride in our worldwide reputation.

With a presence in New York, London, Glasgow, Hong Kong and Tokyo, Policy is a truly global function. The Glasgow Policy team is ideally placed to be a key advisory centre for our global stakeholders, with minimal business travel that would ordinarily be associated with similar advisory roles.
