THE ROLE
The Outbound Dock Registrar is responsible for scheduling and managing the efficient and precise flow of property in and out of Sotheby's docks. This person must work efficiently and effectively with both third parties and various internal departments at Sotheby's. Additionally, the Outbound Dock Registrar is responsible for releasing property accurately out of inventory.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute schedule of outbound collections and occasional inbound deliveries
- Effectively manage unscheduled requests for collectionsConfirm all necessary paperwork is complete: verify and ensure accuracy of paperwork, and communicate with appropriate colleagues for any discrepancies
- Properly complete releasing documentation and maintain such documents for audit purposes
- Examine all property upon release and record and/or verify associated information, such as piece count
- Reconcile post sale property in PPU and work with the Inventory Manager to perform regular stock checks
- Ensure lists of property that needs to be transferred to the dock for transfer or release is pulled in a timely fashion and all property verified for the next pick up
- Schedule and coordinate third party collections with Post Sale
- On occasion, receive property and ensure that all associated data is correct and accurate
- Maintain the integrity and organization of the property releasing area and outbound dock and ensure the safe movement of all property in the outbound dock and front counter collection areas
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year Registrar/collections management experience a plus
- Supervision experience a plus
- General overall knowledge of the fine and decorative arts as well as luxury wear
- Excellent attention to detail
- A team player who works with other colleagues to complete tasks and activities
- Strong communication skills and superior organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with speed and efficiency
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekend hours when necessary
The expected hourly rate for this position is $24.50/hour. Employees in this role may be expected to work overtime, and will receive additional pay at the applicable overtime rate. In addition to hourly wages and overtime, successful candidates will be eligible for benefits as required by law.
