Cancer Registrar II, CCPO

Under the general supervision Administrative Manager, this position is responsible for the identification of patients with cancer, analysis and interpretation of the cancer site, extent of disease, treatment and follow-up of such patients. Data collection will meet the standards of the Commission of Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, the Massachusetts State Cancer Registry, MGB Disease Centers and MGB clinicians, researchers, and administrators.
Must be a Certified Tumor Registrar with minimum of 2 years abstracting experience; able to abstract complex cancer sites.
Ability to analyze multiple medical documents (including electronic health records and computerized reports) to classify and code cancer data. Must be able to apply skilled judgment to know when information is missing and how to look for information in another source and how to resolve conflicting information.
Must have good attention to detail.
Ability to work with various computer systems including Windows applications and networked systems for data collection, analysis, queries, report production and data transfer.
Ability to work well with physicians, cancer registrars and other health care professionals to collect and report cancer data in the most efficient manner.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
