Grade UE06: £33,025 to £38,083 per annum pro rata (a dditional 30% Premium Band on contracted hours)

CMVM / R(D)SVS / Hospital for Small Animals

Part-time: averaging 29.2 hours per week

Fixed-term: 16-month contract to cover maternity leave

Shift Pattern: 8pm-8.30am; working 4 shifts on and 8 shifts off in a rolling pattern

We are seeking an experienced RVN who loves everything from triage to trauma. We have a robust training programme where you will learn about all areas of the hospital, both in and out of hours from our experience nursing team.

If you stay calm under pressure, are detail orientated, and enjoy fast-paced problem solving, this is the job for you.

The Opportunity:

We have a dedicated night team who cover 365 days, allowing us to provide 24/7 care to our patients. Our night nurse roles cover everything from ward-based patients, including felines, canines, and exotics as well as our intermediate and emergency & critical care service. You may help with surgeries or endoscopies that run out of hours; therefore this is a fantastic opportunity to potentially learn new skills.

We have three canine wards, four exotics wards, one feline ward, two isolation units, an emergency room as well as our dedicated, continually staffed Intermediate Care and Intensive Care Wards. We provide the highest level of care to our patients around the clock with life-threatening conditions as well as more routine cases.

As part of a rolling pod of three RVNs, you will provide cover for each other’s annual leave or other absence, accruing overtime payment as you do so.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Being an RCVS registered veterinary nurse is essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communications skills are essential.
  • Keen dedication to teaching the next generation of veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses is a must.
