The Role
Are you looking for a new adventure?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse, be it newly qualified, experienced, or returning to work, to enhance our existing team.
The role is for either a full time or part time position, full time would be covering a 5 day a week rota. We currently run a shift pattern, 8-hour day, Monday to Friday, 7am to 9pm. But this is subject to flexibility to facilitate a work life/family life balance, should the suitable candidate require. Ideally the ability to join our weekend rota, that is currently on rotation of approximately 1:6 Saturday morning shifts from 8am to 12pm (with flexibility due to the nature of the job!) But this is not essential.
Our out of hours is currently covered by a dedicated off-site team, but this could change in the future and again will be flexible.
You will enjoy a varied workload, covering all aspects of a thriving hospital environment including but not limited to:
- Theatre work
- Inpatient care
- Preparing and recovering day patients
- Assisting Veterinary Surgeons
- Running laboratory tests
- Running nurse clinics
- Helping to develop a wider range of clinics such as weight and geriatric clinics
- Running puppy parties
- Running socialisation classes
- Occasional reception work
Personal development is actively encouraged and supported, with a generous CPD allowance.
Salary
The salary for this role is up to £31,000 depending on experience
Fix or flex – work life balance that works for you
We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.
About Us
We are a well-established Veterinary Hospital in West Sussex on the Southern Coast of England and have been providing services to our community for 28 years. We have 2 branch clinics within a 20-minute drive and ample, free car parking at all 3 sites. Our surgery is loaded with all the usual toys including Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Cryosurgery, Radiosurgery and a fully equipped lab.
Our location boasts a fabulous coastline and plenty of wide-open space on the South Downs for country walks. Bognor is an entertainment hub with Butlins and Hotham Park, as well as a local cinema, multiple pubs and places to eat. Heaps of seaside shops and fun, including the pier and promenade train rides! There is a multiplex cinema in Chichester, with a bowling alley and various big-name restaurants, and on the outskirts, you can even try your hand at water sports! We have local transport links to trains that service Gatwick and London and a short drive to Portsmouth will give you plenty of outlet shopping and links to the ferries to the Isle of Wight and France. If you fancy some history, there is also the historic town of Arundel with the Castle, lake, and quaint little shops.
Our Team and Culture
Our surgery is made up of a large, evolving team of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses and 5 Animal Nursing Assistants plus, a dedicated team of receptionists and admin support. We have several team members working towards their certificates in a number of areas, and we pride ourselves on being a progressive practice that actively encourages and supports personal development.
We are enhancing our client-based support by gaining our Cat-Friendly status (ISFM) along with personal cat-friendly professionals on all staff, becoming a Rabbit Friendly Practice and gaining our Fear Free Professional status, all in the aid to reduce stress and anxiety within our patients. We are a certified Bee Friendly practice, with the aim to enhance our Eco-friendly approach and sustainability. We also work closely with a local wildlife hospital, so treat a diverse range of wild animals. Some of our staff are members of British Divers Marine Life Rescue, so we’ve even had the odd seal.
