We are looking for a Night Registered Nurse to work in our Nursing Care Home in Woodthorpe, Nottingham.
REGISTERED NURSE JOB PURPOSE
- Working in line with Woodthorpe Manor’s policies, procedures and philosophy, the Registered Nurse’s role will be to maintain and develop professional nursing standards and practice.
- To plan, implement and supervise all nursing care at Woodthorpe Manor and to be physically involved in the nursing care of the residents to meet the individual needs of all service users, either personally or through delegation.
- The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Responsibilities and Duties
- To administer and keep accurate records of all Service Users’ medication as prescribed by a Doctor and within the Home’s drug administration policy
- Liaise with other professionals, e.g. Dentists, Chiropodists, Speech Therapists
- Adhere to regulations stipulated by the Registered Body and maintain all necessary records
- Actively participate in ‘in-service’ training for the Care Assistants and in any other training requested by the Manager
- Report to the manager any complaints or problems arising in the Home
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for the Service Users and staff and ensure that all practices are carried out in accordance with the rules and standards of the Home
- To take responsibility for, and effectively supervise the operation of the Home in the absence of the Home Manager and Deputy Manager and ensure that the care is of a high standard at all times
- Maintain a level of discipline in order that a good standard of nursing care can be given within a happy and relaxed atmosphere.
- Respond to requests from the Manager to attend meetings and discussions when required within normal working hours and agree to attend voluntary outside normal working hours
- Maintain Health and Safety standards within the Home
- Comply with contractual agreements affecting employment within the Home
- Comply with all requirements of the Fire Officer and, in the event of a fire, carry out instructions in accordance with the Home’s fire policy.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care
- Competent and capable of using medical equipment
- Ability to identify own learning needs
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Possess nursing experience.
- Physically able to perform the full range of nursing duties.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Produce timely, accurate written/electronic records and documents
- Be a Registered General Nurse
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Hold a current NMC registration
- Attend courses appropriate to development in caring for older people
