Job description

The National Treatment Centre

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our NHS Fife Elective Orthopaedic nursing team in a new, state of the art, purpose built Orthopaedic centre.

The National Treatment Centre – Fife Orthopaedics is based within the grounds of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and will provide care for Elective Orthopaedic patients. The centre is currently under construction and is due to be completed by end of October 2022, with activity starting early January 2023. The centre has 3 theatres, 7 bedded recovery areas, a 34-bedded inpatient ward and a dedicated Orthopaedic Outpatient Department.

The Orthopaedic service has led the way in delivering an innovative and excellent service, currently providing same day major joint replacement surgery, implementing the philosophy of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and providing excellent standards of care.

The centre will offer excellent experience and learning opportunities in dealing with Orthopaedic patients and unique opportunities for professional and personal development for registered nurses who are keen to develop their knowledge and clinical skills within Orthopaedics.

The elective Orthopaedic ward will be an advanced nurse practitioner led unit and the successful applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your personal qualities should include excellent organisational skills together with a positive approach and the ability to work effectively within the team.

There are various hours available, with a variety of shift patterns to ensure the successful candidate has that work/home life balance.
