An opportunity has arisen for a vibrant and enthusiastic experienced Registered Nurse to join our highly functional and productive Rheumatology Outpatients team.
You will need to be a dynamic and motivated NMC registered nurse and be able to show leadership in a clinical area.

The Rheumatology outpatients department provides specialist care in Rheumatology and Osteoporosis, therefore all nurses who work in the department are given the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop their expertise within this specialty.
The post holder will have a remit to prep and administer day case infusion and injection treatments safely in- line with departments’ protocols. In addition they will be actively involved in delivering Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) targets for the department. The post holder will be actively involved in our weekly Rheumatology clinics and ensure patients ongoing pathways are organized efficiently.

JOB ROLE
- To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the implementation and evaluation of patient care for patients undergoing infusion treatments within the department.
- To administer Biologics and Chemotherapy infusion safely in line with department’s protocols and evidence based practice.
- Provide Pre and Post treatment patient education and orientation for patients attending for infusion and injection treatment.
- To be responsible in recognizing the responsibilities of the nurse in administering biologics and chemotherapy day treatments.
- To work as part of a team in a conducive and co-operative manner.
- To assist in all aspects of the smooth running of the Rheumatology department including allocation and preparation of clinics and infusion sessions.
- To provide education and support for qualified and unqualified staff.
- To provide supervision to student nurses on placement within the unit.
- To participate and carry out education sessions to improve Rheumatology skills for outpatient staff when required.
- To fully achieve and maintain competencies within the Trust’s Competency Framework for this grade and specialty.
- To be multi-skilled within the Rheumatology unit and be able to work in clinics, Day Infusion suite or undertake Nurse-led injection clinics in accordance to protocols.
- Attend appropriate meetings as advised by Junior Sister including attendance at departmental meetings and other external Rheumatology meeting as required.
- Actively participate in the health promotion and education of clients, carers and relatives where appropriate.
- Fully achieve and maintain competencies within the nursing competency framework for this band (according to KSF outlines/ specific profession examples of application).
