We are looking for a vibrant and enthusiastic individual to join the team and complement our acute medical unit.
Ward 9 is a newly established acute medical ward situated in The Northumbria hospital within the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit.
The Unit consists of 30 in-patient beds. It will provide evidence based multi-disciplinary care with immediate and specialist management for the acute medical patient. This includes rapid diagnostic facilities, treatment and a multi-disciplinary approach including provision of comprehensive medical assessment.
Most patients are admitted through the Emergency Department the aim of the Unit is to help patients on their journey to recover to the point that they can either be transferred for ongoing care, return to their own home or to further care in the community.

We would like the post holder to be an excellent communicator, reliable, honest and work to a high standard of care. Experience in Acute medicine is desirable but not necessary as full training and support will be given to the successful candidate. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience and knowledge within emergency care setting and acute care.

- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
- To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
