Job description
Initiate, evaluate and maintain a high standard of care, ensuring that it is evidence based and compliant with best practice recommendations for neonatal services Ensure that care is family centered, sensitive and responsive to the needs of the babies and their families In liaison with the Matron & Head of Nursing, investigate complaints, ensuring the Trust complaints procedure is followed and good public relations maintained Giving and receiving patient centred handovers Assessing, developing and implementing patient care plans as well as evaluating care given, using appropriate models of nursing and agreed methods of care. Ensuring accurate, contemporaneous documentation at all times To be an effective role model in provision of high standards of care Ensure safe custody, storage and control of all drugs at ward level Ensure all drug administration is covered in accordance with Legal and Trust policies and procedures Produce, maintain and submit statistics and records as required Demonstrate independence in clinical decision making, acting as a source of advice to junior staff Undertake training as required to improve and extend own range of skills and those of the unit team
