Job description

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic nurse in search of a career in the Inherited Bleeding Disorders (IBD) team within Haematology and cancer nursing to join our new Band 5 rotational nurse Programme. We are an expert team of skilled individuals in search of nurses at the start of their career in our specialties to teach, develop and train.

As a band 5 RN, you will rotate across the many developing disciplines within our specialty gaining vast experience. The Cardiff Haemophilia Centre will be your base clinical area and final substantive role on completion of the rotation. During the rotational post, you will be supported to develop your Haematology and oncology nursing skills through an educational framework whilst working as a band 5 RN in the different areas including Haematology Day Unit, Stem Cell Transplant and Car-T cell therapy, Teenage and Young Adult cancer, Ambulatory Care and General Haematology.

We would also consider applications from nurses interested in a non rotational Band 5 RN in the Cardiff Haemophilia Centre. The substantive post holder will be part of a network of IBD nurses, providing care and advice to adults, children and families with bleeding disorders, across Wales.

The Band 5 nurse will undertake a range of clinical duties and you will be developed to undertake the following skills including:

  • Venepuncture
  • Cannulation
  • Administration of products and IV access device management
  • Training will be provided to ensure and maintain competence in the relevant clinical skills
  • The Band 5 nurse will work alongside and be supported by a team of Band 6 and Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • Deliver care in outpatient, inpatient and patient’s homes
  • Develop skills to work within the wider MDT to deliver holistic, patient centered care
  • Deliver services for patients with lifelong chronic conditions
The Haematology Directorate offers an excellent preceptorship scheme for newly qualified staff and will ensure that you are fully supported with 4 weeks supernumerary on initial appointment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
