Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Lead Nurse to apply for a post within the urgent care pathway for young people with complex mental health needs. This team you would manage is for young people with complex clinical presentations. The team is currently a combination of Nursing Leads, Nursing team, Medical, Psychology and Community Support Workers.

The role will give you the chance to learn the managerial and leadership aspects of crisis home treatment teams; you will work alongside the senior leadership team and build new skills to add to your personal development. It offers experience to support in taking your career to the next level.

The role entails collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

The team works across the city to offer the young adults of Birmingham specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention.

The role requires a highly skilled nurse who has exceptional skills in leadership and skills in managing young people in a crisis.

The lead nurse will support the on-call rota. Also cross cover at times, to support the wider urgent care pathway.

The entire team will work closely on the development, implementation and evaluation of services for young people with urgent and often complex needs and will work collaboratively with multi-agency services and other stakeholders to plan, develop, implement and evaluate services available to people with such complex needs.

Recruitment / work force planning.

Contribute to building external stakeholder relationships aligned with the urgent care pathway.

Contribute to the senior leadership team on call rota

The post holder will lead regular clinical supervision, appraisal and performance of the staff within the team.

The lead nurse will provide advice and support to other professions and colleagues on the Urgent care pathway.

The lead nurse will provide leadership and clinical expertise to the team, enabling the team to deliver a comprehensive mental health service and improve outcomes to young people with complex needs.

The lead nurse will support the development of pathways into CMHT, EI and PACT.

The lead nurse will also ensure training and evidence-based guidance’s provided to the wider mental health teams to deliver effective interventions and support, with the goal of reducing admissions to inpatient services.
