This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Afan Nedd Day Unit Team as a Band 6 deputy, The day unit is an ever changing environment providing comprehensive assessments of the older person, a falls service, blood transfusion support, intravenous therapies , medical out patients clinic for the frail older person, and now the Covid19 Anti viral triage and treatment service. The Band 6 deputy role will be pivotal in ensuring high standards of clinical knowledge and skill by facilitating education and development opportunities for staff and students . you will be instrumental in embedding the New anti-Viral service within the existing day unit structure ensuring adherence to policy, participating in meetings and have the ability to modify and change, encouraging a flexible approach in all team members.
Deputising for the ward manager and assisting at;
Leading the team and developing staff as an efficient role model.
Lead on and participate on service improvements/ projects .
Liaising with the Multidisciplinary team and wider services.
Have excellent communication skills and ability to be a critical thinker.
You will be skilled and knowledgeable in intravenous and transfusion procedures.
provide an accessible and comprehensive care approach for the frail elderly and chronic sick.
The successful candidate will be required to work within our health board values, have the ability to nurture excellence and promote a sense of safety, Professionalism and wellbeing instilling confidence in all that attend the day unit.
To deputise and assist the senior sister to effectively manage nursing services and resources within the department. To ensure quality services are provided for patients and their families by the setting of standards and providing continuing responsibility for the assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
To supervise and deploy nursing staff with responsibility for training, development and appraisal. To ensure the quality of patient care is the prime concern of all nursing staff who are working on the ward area. Working within the policies and procedures of the health board and the NMC code of conduct to provide a high standard of nursing care.
You will be a role model acting as a facilitator, advisor and counsellor to professional colleagues as appropriate. To provide leadership in the department and create a suitable environment for a happy, efficient department.
You will fully understand the role of delegation and working autonomously creating a network of support from the multidisciplinary team ,effectively communicating to achieve the best outcomes.
you will be skilled and have the ability critically analyse and asses referrals and patients within the department working within policy and Patient Group directives.
You will be active in ensuring the health and safety within the department is maintained, participate in peer reviews and audit ,ensure staff are up to date with training and report any issues appropriately .
