About the Trust – East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust As one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) has five hospital sites and numerous community clinics, providing teaching and training to doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. EKHUFT also has a national and international reputation for delivering high quality specialist care, particularly in urology, kidney disease, and vascular services.
What you’ll be responsible for
- assess, observe and report on the condition of patients
- explain treatment and procedures to enable parents/carers to consent to treatment
- record pulse, temperature and respiration and keep accurate records of these observations
- administer drugs and injections
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
You’ll have the following qualification/experience:
· Have a minimum of 6 months paid experience at Band 5 level Paediatric Nurse in a hospital environment within the last 2 years
· Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
· Undertake nursing assessment and evaluation to enable development of appropriate plans of care based on the needs of the individual
· Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients
· Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC and CHS policies
· Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines
· Carry out nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and standards
· Undertake regular mandatory training
*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
