Services includes the provision of full residential accommodation and care to stabilise and address emotional and behavioural issues whilst providing a safe and secure environment and providing the Local Authority and parents with an excellent place where their children can be taken care of. Compass Social Care specialises in supporting under 18 parent and child placements including teenage parents and their unborn babies.

JOB TITLE: Registered Manager
REPORTS TO: Responsible Individual/Director
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Deputy and the care support team.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
To efficiently and effectively manage the home and to work within and ensure effective delivery of the main responsibilities and key result areas identified within the role of a manager. Assisting the company to achieve its aims of; Nurture, empower, inspire, and protect. along with our objectives to improve service provision, stakeholder relations and, surpassing organisational goals.

In your role you will be supporting our Care support teams by overseeing and coordinating their duties in accordance with their roles, including all regulations and compliance standards. As Registered Manager, you will be representing Compass Social Care in all professional matters and promote the reputation of Compass Social Care to Placing Authorities, to ensure the organisation is recognised as a leading children’s home provider.
JOB CONTEXT:
As a Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality children’s residential provision including working directly with your support teams to ensure the principles of the service are maintained and under direction from the Responsible Individual. The Registered Manager is an integral part of our management team and will work alongside other professionals to support our children, young people to achieve the best possible outcomes by ensuring the use of a range of intervention methods and approaches.
The role supports the service to achieve its vision of providing support to children, young people and their families ensuring they are safely accommodated.
Within your role you will be required to assist the Responsible Individual in oversight of care of young people who are in receipt of residential care in accordance with the values and principles of our residential care service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:
1. You will be responsible for ensuring the high-quality delivery of residential children’s care. You will achieve this by:
⁻ To be responsible for the day-to-day operation/management of an Ofsted regulated residential provision.
⁻ To lead a team of support staff, ensuring that safe and appropriate care practises are maintained at all times.
⁻ Supporting the team to in ensuring compliance with the company’s Policies and Procedures, legislation and social policy.
⁻ Ensuring the voices of children, young people are at the centre of decision making and their voices are heard and valued as part of planning, intervention, reviewing process and wider service delivery.
⁻ To monitor arrangements for any holidays, recreational outings and social activities with the children and young people and to ensure the implementation of related risk assessments.
⁻ Ensure all young people have an up-to-date Support and placement plan that details out all their relevant care and support needs, including a Positive Behaviour Support plan. Endure these are up to date, relevant and all staff are aware and follow them.
⁻ Promote the health and safety of employees at work and of people supported through the implementation of Compass Social Care’s corporate Policy for Health, Safety and Welfare at Work in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements.
⁻ To accept responsibility for such money as may be required in the carrying out of your duties and working effectively within our allocated budgets whilst maintaining weekly budget oversight and ensuring that value for money is derived from all resources at your disposal and spending is in accordance with budgeted plans and recorded.
⁻ 100% of homes operating within staff resource (hours) budget and Homes achieve budgeted levels of income and costs
⁻ To ensure the delivery of person-centred care and safeguard and promote the welfare of the children
⁻ To take on a visible leadership role and manage child protection concerns and complaints.
⁻ Assess new referrals and monitor the admission process within your home.
⁻ Ensuring you work in partnership with your colleagues and those from other agencies to deliver coordinated packages of support.
⁻ Deputising for the Responsible Individual in her absence of annual leave or sickness only in matters relating to the oversight of the homes and attending meetings such as Strategic Management Group (SMG)
⁻ Contributing to ongoing assessment, planning and review processes in line with policy and procedures to ensure that the aims and objectives of the company are progressed appropriately.
⁻ To be instrumental in maintaining good communication systems including regular auditing and production of associated reports.
⁻ To attend regular supervision sessions of your staff team members in line with company policy.
You will be responsible for working with children and young people who are receiving residential care ensuring the values and principles of the Service are achieved and ensuring the safe and robust practice is maintained. In addition to the areas highlighted in section one you will support this by:
⁻ Lead your team in ensuring that all staff working with you maintain a professional approach to their work.
⁻ To maintain the development of positive childcare practice in keeping with the aims and objectives of the organisation.
⁻ Participating in the emergency management on call roster and providing advice and guidance during crisis for your home and others within the.
⁻ Ensuring the fabric of the buildings, equipment and grounds meet the Quality Standards for Children’s Homes and Children’s Homes Regulations.
⁻ Ensure that the home environment is well maintained and presented, that it remains in a clean and hygienic state, and is homely, warm and personalised to the tastes and interests of the young people.
⁻ To ensure young people leaving the home are prepared for their adult life and that their transition happens in a way that is right for them.
⁻ To ensure at all times that professional ethics and behaviour are demonstrated by all staff and that staff are supported and coached in actively engaging with young people.
⁻ Being accountable as the registered manager, for the delivery of the highest possible quality care that meet the needs of children/young people, Quality Standards for Children’s Homes and Children’s Homes Regulations.
⁻ To foster and encourage, feedback from steak holders, young people who use the service and other professionals wherever appropriate contact between children and their families. to inform the development of quality reviews of service within the organisation
⁻ To immediately investigate any allegation or suspicion of harm, and immediately notify the Responsible Individual of any significant event (e.g. absconding, complaints, child protection, serious illness, police involvement...) in line with current regulations and legislation.
⁻ To implement a continuous improvement plan, that details out areas that are being developed and how you are achieving this. As the Registered Manager you will hold people to account for their part in this process and ensure that outcomes are met
⁻ To inform Ofsted of any notifiable incident as detailed in The children’s homes regulations 2015 and Quality Standards to ensure that all safeguarding incidents are responded to immediately, that the relevant Local Authority(s) is contacted as soon as practically possible.
3. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to develop the service. You will achieve this by:

⁻ Planning, preparation and participation in training events to develop staff knowledge and enhance practice.
⁻ Recruiting, interviewing inducting employees and participating in our disciplinary processes including investigations and disciplinary hearings.
⁻ undertaking staff appraisals and mid probation reviews of new and recently approved team members
⁻ Ensuring you maintain accurate and timely records of all work and audits undertaken, producing reports as required.
⁻ Undertake supervisions in line with company policy and procedures.
⁻ To accept responsibility for such money as may be required in the carrying out of your duties and working effectively within our allocated budgets ensuring that value for money is derived from all resources at your disposal and spending is in accordance with budgeted plans and recorded.
⁻ Working on a flexible basis to ensure necessary cover for the service, which may include evening work, weekend work and bank holidays or sleep-ins in emergency situations.
⁻ To delegate tasks to team members and promote/ maintain high standards of cleanliness.
⁻ To be available on an on-call basis to cover staff shortfalls and/or operational deficiencies.
4. You will be responsible for ensuring your practice is in accordance with the organisations values, principles and policies. You will achieve this by:
⁻ Ensuring you practice with integrity and that professional judgements promote and are respectful of culture, language, ethnic origin, faith, gender, sexual orientation and disability, so that rights and responsibilities are respected.
⁻ Providing positive support and appropriate boundaries for other team members in ensuring that the young people are supported in stressful situations of crisis and to work with your teams towards the most positive outcomes.
⁻ Ensuring you prepare for and attend supervision and annual appraisals with both your line manager and other team members
⁻ Ensuring you remain current in your practice in relation to the intervention tools and techniques used within your daily work, ensuring you attend and seek out training, development and research to inform your practice.
⁻ Ensuring you are up to date and familiar with current legislative changes and policies and procedures. Be effective in developing your existing skills and abilities by attending training and commit to your own personal and professional development.
⁻ To be instrumental in auditing, monitoring, reviewing young people’s files, Risk Assessments and individual care and placement plans.
⁻ Cultivating excellent working relations with the Community, Voluntary and Independent sectors to ensure that new models of service delivery effectively meet the needs of children and young people in the future.
⁻ To ensure, that the house is adequately staffed at all times. This will include organising cover on the rota and directly supporting on shift where necessary.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
⁻ Form part of the wider Management Team, being influential in setting and achieving high standards, and ensuring effective communication with colleagues across the organisation.
⁻ All employees have a responsibility to undertake training and development as required. They also have a responsibility to assist, where appropriate and necessary, with the training and development of fellow employees.
⁻ All employees have a responsibility of care for their own and others health and safety.
⁻ Working whatever hours are required to ensure the proper performance of your duties.
⁻ Approve staffing rosters to ensure over staffing does not occur.
⁻ Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably requested and within the ability of the post holder.
⁻ Attend and participate in Strategic Management Group meetings on a regular basis as required.
GENERAL STATEMENT
The post holder may be reasonably expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time.
