Regional Tobacco Officer for the Trading Standards South East partnership

Employed by Kent County Council

Part Time (22.2 Hours a week) with hybrid/home working.

£32,485 - £36,693 (Pro Rata)

Are you highly motivated and enthusiastic? Could you provide leadership, support, and coordination for 16 Trading Standards services across the Southeast to disrupt the supply of illegal tobacco? Could you develop how these services deliver enforcement action so that it is consistent?

If so, then this is the job opportunity for you.

In this role you will be building on existing practices to organise a programme of intelligence-based work through the 16 Trading Standards Services within the partnership to maximise the outcomes from disruption activity.

You will guided by a member of the Trading Standards South East (TSSE) Board and supported by the central TSSE team and Focus Group, calling on your own background of enforcement experience, to manage the project. You will be regularly liaising with other colleagues and partner agencies across the South East including presenting your recommendations and strategies, so you must have excellent communication and IT skills.

The post holder will work remotely for most of the time and must be able to travel across the 19 Local authorities as needed, for intelligence gathering and enforcement.

This is a post hosted by Kent County Council, and currently funded for 18 months but may be subject to extension.

You will be employed in this part time role by Kent County Council, which offers significant benefits including:

  • Remote and flexible working,
  • Paid Chartered Trading Standards Institute membership,
  • A commitment to continual professional development and training
  • Support from the dedicated Consumer and Public Safety Team, as well as the Service in general.
