At the Royal British Legion, we believe in building our potential and have an exciting opportunity to increase capacity within our National Outreach service, with the introduction of five new roles across England. This expansion will enable us to provide responsive, person centred and holistic support to our beneficiaries.
As an Outreach Officer, covering the London region, you will provide a range of specialist advice, guidance, advocacy, and support to beneficiaries with complex, and often, multiple needs could have a real impact on people’s lives.
You will be responsible for supporting those beneficiaries experiencing Homelessness, Mental Health, Addiction & Dependency, Domestic Abuse, engage with the Criminal Justice system (out in the community or immediately prior to release) and supporting adults, children, or families at risk.
Additionally, you will manage a beneficiary caseload and provide ongoing support to beneficiaries to find practical and long-lasting ways to achieve their potential, lead more fulfilling lives and take responsibility for their future.
This role is home-based with some requirement to travel across all Boroughs of Greater London depending on beneficiaries’ needs, training and meeting purposes. Therefore, you will need to be based within London area.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing effective & efficient welfare case management of circa (but not limited to) 20 complex cases; ensuring case records are maintained, accurate and up to date.
- Face-to-face visits at the beneficiaries’ home or out in the community, as appropriate and in line with RBL Visit policy to meet beneficiary need.
- Conducting thorough exploration of needs and assess priorities, in agreement with the beneficiary, to produce an objective-based action plan. This will include developing and adapting the action plan throughout the duration of the case as required in response to the beneficiary need, providing follow-up support as appropriate.
- Offering specialist advice, advocacy, and referrals to statutory, and third sector agencies; working collaboratively to empower and support beneficiaries to address and manage their needs effectively.
- Identifying and supporting beneficiaries to access and maintain engagement with specialist services such as clinical & therapeutic mental health & addiction services, and statutory & third sector housing projects.
- Providing emotional & practical welfare support to beneficiaries whilst awaiting assessments with statutory or third sector services.
