Job Description

PURPOSE

To lead the recruitment, conversion, retention and development of recreational officials within the South West of England and Wales.

Interviews for the role will be held in person on 12th June 2023 at Seat Unique Stadium, Gloucestershire CCC.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Working with Counties, ECB Network Partners and the Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) to establish and implement an officials’ recruitment, conversion, retention and development strategy for the region.

  • Ensuring that, within the strategy, there is emphasis on the recruitment, retention and development of officials from diverse backgrounds.

  • Establishing a volunteer workforce and structure to enable Regional and County plans to be successfully delivered.

  • Maintaining accurate data on officials in the region – to include training completed and officiating levels.

  • Working with Counties and the ACO to organise introductory training courses for new officials.

  • Working with Counties, Leagues, clubs and the ACO to ensure that new officials are provided with immediate and appropriate opportunities after their introductory training.

  • Establish mentoring programmes for new officials.

  • Provide continuous learning opportunities for officials at every level.

  • Working with Leagues, clubs and the ACO to provide appropriate appointment opportunities.

  • Establishing support networks to help officials deal with ‘off-field’ matters e.g., discipline

  • Managing the ECB’s umpire talent development programme in the region, to include: identifying umpires with the potential and opportunity to progress and establishing an umpire developer workforce

  • Managing promotion schemes in each region, including identify those officials wishing to be considered for promotion, provide regular learning opportunities to promotion candidates, gathering and analysing feedback from suitably trained developers

Experience

  • Working with a diverse and remote volunteer workforce

  • Officiating within sport

  • Delivering training to adults and young people

  • Developing sports officials

  • Successful collaboration with external organisations

  • Delivering innovative solutions

Please note this role will require frequent regional travel including weekends and evenings. Therefore, we ask candidates to consider this when applying as there will be a need for the successful candidate to be able to commute regularly across the region.
