2023 is continuing to provide sustainable growth within the OCU Group. Due to this continued growth, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Regional Director. You will be responsible for the regional delivery of a range of utility contracts within South Wales and M4 corridor into London.

We are looking for a commercial focused Director with a strong background in telecoms/ utilities who will take responsibility for the management and development of the workforce and delivery team to maximize productivity, monitoring costs and maintaining an agreed contract margin as per agreed forecasts.

As a leading infrastructure provider, we have several new projects awarded within the telecoms and utilities space, the Regional director will take responsibility for managing the contracts and taking overall responsibility for the work force. This role would suit an experienced Contracts Director or Senior Delivery Manager looking for a step up in their career.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To maximize commercial opportunity across all client contracts in the region.
  • Establish and maintain effective links with key decision-makers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain and develop excellent relationships with clients.
  • Ensure all projects are appropriately assessed, planned, and resourced in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to achieve short, medium, and long-term goals.
  • Develop and implement business plans to improve cost-efficiency.
  • Control the work and resources in the region and ensure the retention of the required staff numbers, including staff development to ensure that it achieves its objectives.
  • Provide monthly reports for all projects across the region.
  • Provide bid support including contract reviews, commercial and pricing inputs and bid writing as required.
  • Ensure all commercial margins are managed and project expectations are being met.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent leadership with a collaborative approach to deliver quality outcomes for customers.
  • Experience of managing contracts within Utilities or Telecoms is essential.
  • Previous experience of working for a tier 1 contractor.
  • Management of risk for delivery of projects.
  • Sound understanding of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation.
  • Excellent decision making skills.
  • Able to identify and develop processes within operations to improve outputs and measure success.
  • Broad commercial acumen and experience in contract management within fixed price and target cost contracts.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills, the ability to anticipate potential problems and overcome them effectively.
  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate with senior stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
