This is an exciting fast paced role supporting the Regional Engagement Lead in the development and delivery of effective regional stakeholder engagement, including the media, and ensuring understanding and engagement with CQC’s in promoting improvement in health and social care services and helping people make informed decisions about care.
Reporting to the Regional Engagement Lead, and supported by a Regional Engagement Officer, you’ll develop and undertake evaluation work contributing to CQC’s understanding of the quality of care across your region. There’ll be a strong emphasis on the relationships you’ll build and maintain with key regional stakeholders as well as with CQC inspection teams

JOB DESCRIPTION
Accountabilities:
Working with the Regional Engagement Lead and peers across all directorates, to contribute to and deliver an effective strategy and approach to consistently engage with local stakeholders in line with CQC’s corporate priorities.
Contribute to the development of methods to systematically keep track of all relevant issues – including inspection reports, enforcement action and any other issues reflecting CQC’s work externally and internally. Using these systems to manage the region, including the workload of Regional Engagement Officers.
Build and maintain a regional media profile enabling the consistent promotion of the work of CQC’s inspectors in line with CQC policy and agreed processes.
Oversee and support Regional Engagement Officers who will act as a first point of contact for regional media enquiries
Provide support and training to regional staff on media handling.
Plan internal engagement for significant reports both externally and internally. Externally, this will include engagement with local authorities, integrated care systems, providers, local Healthwatch and regional NHS England.
Contribute to the development and implementation of data analysis and evaluation for necessary reporting, identifying trends and changes that may affect Regional Engagement or the Engagement, Policy and Strategy directorate as a whole.
Responsible for using evaluation and monitoring to support the Regional Engagement Lead’s oversight of regional engagement performance.
Gathering and using insight from operations colleagues, providers, local stakeholders and CQC data to help build a comprehensive picture of the view of quality within an area.
Attend and actively participate in account groups and other internal working groups ensuring the needs and considerations of regional engagement are represented and the groups are supported to achieve their purpose.
Responsible for the personal development of the Regional Engagement Officers, including regular one to ones, performance accountability and management, objective- setting, and regular progress checking.
Have the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience to actively promote diversity and equality of opportunity, treat everyone with dignity and respect and avoid unlawful discrimination.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Significant knowledge and experience of working within a communications or public relations field, including experience of media relations and / or journalism.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of using different media and IT packages.
Excellent copy writing and sub-editing skills.
High level organisation skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Highly effective presentation skills.
Highly effective networker and relationship builder.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Able to provide advice and guidance at all levels.
