Regenerative Agriculture Project Officer Maidstone, England
Job description
Tyland Barn Nature Park & Gardens,
Chatham RoadSandling
, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 3BD
Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.
Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale natural habitat areas and processes. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.
The Job:
This unique role will make a real difference for farmers and for nature in Kent and beyond!
The Regenerative Farming Project Officer will work alongside colleagues from the Farmer Cluster Team within KWT and key farming partners such as Bockhanger Farms Ltd. As well as other external partners to deliver the two year regenerative farming project. The work is funded by the Co-op Foundations, Carbon Innovation Fund, and will include 6 monthly reporting on project progress.
You will coordinate the successful delivery of a two year field trial on a liquid compost bio-stimulant developed at Bockhangers Farms, recruiting a second farm to take part in a one year trial in year 2 of the project. Simultaneously, you will co-develop case studies and a communications strategy with the Marcoms department at KWT and lead on the development of a regenerative farming network for Kent, to share knowledge and case studies between aspiring regenerative farmers.
You will work with your line manager to ensuring that the various strands of the project are delivered on time and to budget.
It will be key to build relationships with a range of organisations, land managers and colleagues within the Trust, seeking to work in partnership to further the impact of the project.
You: You have knowledge of agriculture within the UK and are passionate about nature friendly farming. Personable and passionate about making a difference. You are equally comfortable building relationships as you are collecting soil samples and logging field trial data.
You are committed to supporting conservation and understand the interplay of farming and wildlife.
We are unable to recruit anyone who does not have a right to work in the UK.
A DBS check will be required for this role.
