Job description
We are looking to recruit a HR/Recruitment Officer on an initial 6 month FTC to support with Employee Relations and Recruitment within Education, Skills and Employment.
Will be required to work from Totnes office 1 day per week
Your role will also include support with regards 1st line ER issues as they arise.
Key Tasks:
Deliver objectives set out in the Terms of Reference for Education.
Investigating and resolving day-to day employee relations issues either directly or through line m
Responsible for the full recruitment process of all internal roles, liaising with managers for all recruitment, creating and placing adverts to processing of new starters and onboarding.
Able to use jobs boards and social media platforms to advertise vacancies and drive recruitment.
Be responsible for driving and monitoring each stage of the application process to ensure service level agreements are adhered to.
Management of the applicant tracking system to ensure candidates and vacancies are managed within SLA’s
Proactively liaising with managers and prompting them to ensure that actions are completed at each stage.
Support with effective case management of people related issues such as disciplinaries, grievance, absence management and performance management
Supporting the HR team on employment lifecycle processes.
Essential Criteria:
CIPD qualified (or equivalent) or working towards a CIPD qualification
- Sound knowledge of HR policies, procedures and best practice
- Good understanding of employment law with the ability to implement legal advice into practice
- Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple cases/projects in a high speed fast paced environment
- Demonstrable customer service skills by active listening and understands the needs of managers and colleagues
- Strong IT skills (word, excel, powerpoint, email, internet and social media platforms).
- Ability to plan, prioritise and use own initiative to meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to assimilate complex information and data quickly and accurately
- Experience of working with highly sensitive information in a confidential manner
- You must be able to build and maintain relationships and able to gain support of colleagues and managers.

- Experience working within an education environment.
Knowledge of geographical recruitment issues
- An understanding of safeguarding and experience with DBS checks
