Lead for Recovery Education, Children and Young people, Band 7

Dorset Wellbeing and Recovery Partnership (WaRP) is a formal partnership between Dorset HealthCare and Dorset Mental Health Forum (a local peer led organisation). The partnership brings together lived experience of Trauma, Mental Health issues and Emotional Distress with professional, clinical, and learned expertise. The vision of our partnership is for Dorset to be a place where people can thrive in their communities and be valued for who they are as citizens with all of their diverse experiences.

This exciting new role has an important part to play in the ongoing transformation of Mental Health Services in Dorset. Recovery Education sits at the heart of our partnership and has value in both an individuals’ personal development but also the cultural development of teams and organisations promoting a greater focus on personal Recovery. The WaRP co-run several projects including the Discovery Project, Recovery Education Centre, Retreats, Dorset Open Door and Dorset Work Matters.

This is a permanent position, 22.5 hours per week.

The purpose of this lead role is to provide clinical leadership for the Discovery Project and the ongoing development of Recovery-focused practice across Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). All this work is co-produced and co-delivered alongside Peer Specialists.

The primary focus of this role will be on the Discovery Project. The project works in partnership alongside children and young people, their families and carers, staff, services, schools and VSCEs to build capacity and understanding in Recovery through Co-Production, Lived Experience and Recovery Education.

The post holder will be skilled in co-production and co-leading. They will: support the development and delivery of the Discovery Project work; be available to address any clinical issues that arise within the service; provide line management to the NHS Trainers; have a good understanding of the social model of disability and health inequalities; keep up to date with literature in regard to Recovery, including critiques of Recovery, and best available evidence in regard to supporting children and young people with mental health challenges.

The post holder will be required to provide some cross cover with the other Recovery Education Lead roles and at times deputise for the Lead for Recovery and Social Inclusion.
