POSITION PURPOSE
Supports the operation and maintenance of the Decision Support System (DSS) on an on-going basis ensuring data is loaded and reconciled per the established schedule, produces quarterly profit/(loss) reports for distribution to ministries:
- Supports the operation and maintenance of the DSS working closely with the Service Areas (SAs) and Health Ministries (HMs) to ensure data is integrated and reviewed/audited per the established schedule, quarterly profit/loss reports (by service line, payer, etc.) are generated and reconciled, and open lines of communication are sustained.
- Strives to improve all work-related skills, adheres to all department and corporate policies and acts in a professional and courteous manner when representing the department (internally or externally).
- Reports to the Decision Support Supervisor in fulfilling all decision support activities for their assigned HMs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in the implementation/installation of Syntellis’ financial decision support/cost accounting applications as directed by senior personnel. Maintains systems at level deemed appropriate by senior financial management.
Maintains and regularly reviews cost accounting processes within the DSS. Follows established audit and review procedures to ensure the accuracy/integrity of all cost and net patient revenue data within the system. Checks integrated data to original sources where possible.
Performs all necessary daily/monthly/quarterly DSS maintenance and processing, including the collection/update of statistics (in a timely fashion) and reconciles the data to feeder systems (e.g., Epic, PeopleSoft). Reviews the reconciliation schedules (as completed by other analysts) and randomly tests data as instructed and as necessary to ensure accuracy.
Monitors and coordinates updates of remaps and allocations. Reviews of remaps and allocations with operational leadership to be conducted annually (at a minimum).
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
Bachelor of Science in business administration, finance/accounting or other healthcare related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One or more years' experience in health care cost accounting/decision support, managed care, reimbursement, patient accounting, financial operations, or information services preferred.
Knowledge of and some experience with Microsoft application suite, especially Excel, beneficial.
Experience with cost accounting systems, including implementation, is preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare nomenclature, business processes, and clinical functions, if preferred.
Strong analytical, logical reasoning and problem solving skills, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be comfortable working in a collaborative, team environment.
Maintain a high level of accuracy when reviewing data and performing tasks
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the telephone, with people in a number of different locations on technical issues.
Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communications.
The environment in which the incumbent will work requires the ability to concentrate, meet deadlines, work on several projects at the same period and adapt to interruptions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
