More about the role of Secure Receptionist
To deliver an efficient and high quality security service within a Medium Secure Hospital in line with the National Specification.
The role requires good working relationships with all hospital staff, patients and visitors with a keen focus on maintaining patient and site security and safety.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the daily security procedures within the secure reception which includes the monitoring the safety of the keys issued to staff.
- Checking the correct visitor/security paperwork is in place and appropriate to allow entry to the site
- Provide 24 hour cover to manage staff entry and exit from the building
- To promote relational and physical security amongst the workforce to ensure compliance
- Arrange patient/staff transport when required
- Responding to phone calls and dealing with any queries that may arise whilst also signposting the caller in the right direction to respective departments
- Booking in visitors, families and professionals visiting the hospital
- Receive mail and deliveries ensuring no banned or restricted items enter into the hospital
- Ensuring the Reception area is maintained to a clean, tidy and professional standard
- Completing the routine audit and checks to ensure compliance with all aspects of physical security
- Support the Security Manager in the delivery of security training to all staff
- Support the teams in any planned or reactive security scenarios
- Assists in monitoring the grounds undertaking relevant checks
- Check and support section 17 leave and the patients exiting the building.
- Undertake the physical security checks in line with the standards for MSU - requires walk round of the grounds and perimeters
- Monitoring of all alarm systems and potential threat
- Monitors CCTV and support the manager in any security related incident that takes place at site
- Ensuring the correct Risk Assessments have been completed and up to date in the Reception/Front of House area
- Supporting the nursing staff with escorting of patients with leave into community activities
