This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Receptionist to join a friendly and hardworking team that are dedicated to the delivery of high quality safe care. The post is based on the new Queens Admissions & Discharge Unit (QADU), based at Nottingham University Hospital, Queens Medical Centre Campus.

As the Ward Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors when entering the ward so a friendly, welcoming smile and excellent communication skills are essential.

As a caring and positive person, you will need to be able to work as part of an established team, have the ability to work flexibly and be committed to ensuring the smooth running of reception.

We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, content with working in a busy environment with the ability to work under pressure and who has good time management skills.

You must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. It is essential that you act professionally at all times and promote the Trust's values & behaviours.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the above summary, you need to familiarise yourself with the full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert.

Tasks will include but not be limited to fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, administrative and general tasks required to facilitate and record patient information using hospital systems. Staff are expected to be courteous and considerate at all times and have excellent customer care skills.

After appropriate training, the post holder will be required to utilise the hospital Medway PAS computer system to capture and update necessary data, tracking patients through the unit from arrival to discharge, and preparation of patient notes in readiness for their treatment.

The role requires close liaison with other services within NUH and the provision of a courteous, reliable and quality consumer service to patients, relatives and carers, healthcare professionals, internal departments and outside organisations. Strong communication and a professional telephone manner are essential.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
