An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Rheumatology team, working as a Ward Clerk/Receptionist for the Day Case Unit/Rheumatology reception.
We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic person who is able to work on a busy reception area whilst providing high quality administration support to the nursing team on the Day Case Unit.
The successful candidate must be customer care focused, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to welcome patients attending the department.
Applicants must have some IT and PC skills, knowledge of PAS (Patient Administration System) would also be advantageous.
The post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient, courteous and helpful reception service to patients, their families and other professionals when they contact the Rheumatology Department.
To be responsible for accurately in-putting, updating and amending all patient related information on to the computerised Patient Administration System (PAS) and SOLITON radiology system. This will include attending and discharging patients attending Rheumatology clinics and patients attending the Day Case Unit.
The post holder will be required to work closely with the Day Case Nurse Manager to ensure patients are booked appropriately for their rheumatology specific infusions within specific timescales and that patient notes are prepared in time for their admission. This involves printing of patient labels, wrist bands and ensuring the correct documentation is prepped and that the prescription for their treatment has been processed.
To carry out this role applicants will have the following skills/qualifications to carry out this role:
- Good standard of education
- NVQ 2 in administration or equivalent
- OCR 1/2 in Word-processing & Text processing
- Previous customer care experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Use of the PAS (Patient Administrator System) along with health records experience.
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Ability to respond effectively to working alone and as a team member
