Front Desk Receptionist
What It’s Like: Receptionists spend the day answering our multi-line phone system and warmly greeting clients as they arrive and depart for appointments and other business matters. Other tasks that keep our receptionists busy include scheduling appointments, taking payments, preparing invoices, updating/printing/copying records, triaging emergencies, answering client questions, confirming appointments, and maintaining the cleanliness and disinfection of the lobby area that may include cleaning waste. The receptionist interacts throughout the day with team members, doctors, clients, and pets.
The Work Environment: Receptionists work in our busy lobby where there is constant activity from clients, pets, and team members. Things can get loud so the ability to tolerate animals that are barking, whining, and crying is necessary. A normal part of the day will include assisting clients with their very sick or injured pet. In these instances, the receptionist is expected to maintain a calm presence while working with clients that may be in a very emotional state. Frequent walking, standing, bending, and stooping will occur throughout the day. Some heavy lifting will be required when stocking shelves or retrieving bags of food/cans from the supply room.
We Require:
- One year of front desk receptionist experience in a veterinary practice or other medical setting.
- One year of multi-line telephone system experience in a high call volume setting.
- Must enjoy working and interacting with the public, not just their animals.
- Ability to be successful in a multi-tasking environment where conditions can change quickly.
- High school diploma or GED.
The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with 10-hour shifts and rotating Saturdays. We offer health insurance, 401k, and Paid Time Off. The practice is closed on Sundays. No late nights.
