JOB TITLE: Receptionist
DEPARTMENT: Administration
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides communication, reception services and clerical support to the organization. The position operates the telephone switchboard, answers and triages calls, manages the voicemail system, receives visitors and performs clerical duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Medical Payables and Insurance Coordinator and Supervisor of Access Specialists and Reception
SUPERVISES: none
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: All comments, actions and behaviors have a direct effect on the public’s perception of Hospice Austin. Interactions with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, visitors, co-workers, etc. must be in a manner that is courteous, respectful, cooperative and professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork and positive relations.
EQUIPMENT/MACHINERY USED
Multi-line phone system. Postage machine. Other office equipment.
MINIMUM TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. One year experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. One year experience in a medical environment preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides communication services and support. (80%)
1.1 Answers phones, triages and directs calls
1.2 Programs and maintains voice mail system
1.3 Orients staff to communication systems, pagers, voice mail
1.4 Provides patient information to staff and vendors on request
1.5 Provides information to callers regarding services and programs
2. Provides reception services and support. (10%)
2.1 Greets and directs visitors
2.2 Provides information regarding programs and services
2.3 Maintains lobby and reception area
3. Provides clerical services and support. (10%)
3.1 Maintains employee mailboxes and all-staff phone list
3.2 Responsible for outgoing mail
3.3 Distributes incoming mail
3.4 Logs donations and revenue checks
3.5 Types correspondence
3.6 Runs Suncoast Reports for staff
4 Other duties as assigned
