Job description

Carnforth Pet Care is seeking a dedicated, friendly, caring individual to look after our clients and front of house as well as forming part of the team behind the scenes to look after our patients.

The job will involve all of the following and more:

  • Answering the phone
  • Registering new clients and patients
  • Booking appointments
  • Welcoming clients into the practice
  • Ensuring the waiting area is clean and well stocked
  • Taking payments
  • Receiving deliveries and other post
  • Weighing animals and checking microchips are reading
  • Helping with cleaning of kennels, consult rooms and other clinical areas
  • Assisting the vets and nurses with inpatient care
  • Assisting the vets and nurses with animal restraint and monitoring

You will look after front of house including booking appointments and dealing with customer enquiries by phone, email and in person. You will have a great attention to detail, enjoy dealing with customers and their pets, have a friendly and confident persona and take pride in delivering a first class customer experience.

You will also have some clinical duties, involving re-stocking of the consumables in the consultation rooms and items in the dispensary.

You should be confident and comfortable being around animals including dogs, cats and small pets such as rabbits. At times, you may be required to help hold an animal. Full training will be given.

This could be a part or full time position for the right candidate. We are open 8.45am to 6.30pm Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays 9am to 12.30pm. At a minimum we require someone to cover Tuesdays, Wednesdays and 1 in 2 Saturday mornings.

Essential skills

  • Communication - must be able to empathise with people
  • Computer literacy - must be able to use word and excel

Desirable skills

  • SQP
  • Veterinary practice experience or animal management
  • Some veterinary nursing experience

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Salary: £10,000.00-£15,000.00 per year
