York Carers Centre is an independent charity that helps unpaid carers in York find the support they need. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, highly organised Receptionist / Admin Assistant to manage our busy reception and join our friendly dedicated team. The successful candidate will provide a warm, friendly welcome and a professional confidential service to carers and visitors both in person and over the telephone.
This is a varied and challenging role which involves providing a listening ear to carers in need. The post holder will possess excellent communication and customer care skills with a confident and empathetic approach towards carers. Support to carers will be offered through a range of communications; providing information, signposting/referring to other services, alongside handling enquiries and ensuring messages and referrals are passed to the team in a timely and effective manner.
This is a multi-skilled role involving reception and general administrative duties for which excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as is a sense of humour and the ability to exercise tact and sensitivity. We are looking for an individual who thrives on working in a committed passionate team, works collaboratively with everyone, has a “can do” approach, excellent IT skills and high levels of attention to detail and accuracy. To be successful in this role you will have an ability to work under pressure and prioritise own workload dealing with changing and conflicting demands with ease.

Some flexibility to work additional paid hours to cover for staff holidays and meet the demands of the service will be required.
