Our Residential team is one of the largest of its kind and they have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join the Leeds office.


What will you be doing?

You'll be primarily responsible for supporting our Retirement Solutions and Residential Investment sub team on residential real estate transactions. You will assist the team by carrying out various residential conveyancing tasks with a view to running your own caseload after training has been provided. You'll demonstrate a sound commercial understanding and apply a commercial appreciation of billing and time recording.

A willingness to embrace team working and a desire to provide excellent client service is important as our Paralegals are organised, flexible in their approach to managing workloads, confident with their work and are closely aligned with the vision, values and objectives of the people they support across the business. Adhering to both our internal processes and individual client requirements, in addition to producing initial correspondence whilst ensuring that all files are managed effectively and efficiently is a key part of the role.

Other duties may include:

  • Land Registry applications and land charge duties
  • Preparing financial payment forms and assisting with the preparation of completion statements
  • Ensuring client files are compliant with the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Making phone calls to clients and solicitors to update or chase for information
  • Checking file ledger balances and closing client matter files
  • Drafting Contract Packs
  • Assisting with completions
  • Preparing other client specific documentation to enable files to progress

So what are we looking for?

Previous paralegal experience would be useful but is not essential, however you'll have ideally completed your law degree or GDL. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in conveyancing or real estate. What's also important to us is that you're able to provide the highest level of customer/client experience in a fast paced environment, will take ownership and use initiative. You'll also be able to demonstrate excellent time management and have proven forward planning skills and the ability to prioritise. You must also have good communication skills, numeracy and literacy skills, and experience of using IT software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
