The Opportunity

KPMG Law wishes to hire a Manager - with a minimum of 2 years PQE experience in the real estate sector ideally working for real estate investment fund clients and owners with repeat activity.
KPMG Law wishes to grow and develop a real estate team to take full advantage of the synergies with, and opportunities created by, KPMG’s market leading tax and deal advisory practices.
The Tax practice is worth £80/90 million per annum and KPMG is currently missing out on the opportunity to maximise client care in relation to corporate and transactional real estate work.
The successful candidates will have experience within corporate or transactional Real Estate and may or may not have a portable practice that they will bring with them to KPMG.
The primary focus of the hires will be meaningful deal experience in this space (KPMG is not looking for real estate tax lawyers as part of these hires).
Ideally the candidates will be known names in the market with good contacts in the target client base.
As this sector is known to lack diversity, KPMG is dedicated to considering diverse profiles for this role.
The ideal candidates are likely to come from law firms but candidates from competitor firms will be considered.

The Role of a Manager

The successful candidate will be:

an entrepreneurial self-starter who is excited by the opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary legal services in a different environment and manner while delivering a great service to clients;
able to understand the legal solution within the wider picture and who is keen to become a more rounded business adviser;
a driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines and is keen to assist with the development of junior team members;
a relationship builder who can spot and develop new opportunities and client relationships both within the KPMG network and externally; and
a good technical lawyer with a solid knowledge of the relevant legislation and able to work with limited partner or director supervision, driving mandates forward.

The role will involve:

providing legal advice on a broad range of client solutions spanning some or all of the areas of real estate legal advice referred to above;
building relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions;
project managing and driving projects to conclusion; and
training and mentoring more junior team members.

Strong academic, technical, and personal skills are essential.
