You will be joining the Real Estate division of DWS which is a full-service Real Estate manager with approx. EUR 55 billion in assets under management globally and EUR 25 billion in Europe that acquires and manages investments in individual assets or Real Estate portfolios on behalf of funds and separate accounts. The London based portfolio management team raises and manages pan-European core and core-plus funds. The team reviews investment pipeline originated by local Transaction teams in UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Poland and pursues selective opportunities in-line with investment guidelines. Furthermore the team oversee and actively engages in the Asset Management of the invested portfolio.
Joining the pan-European Portfolio Management team as a Real Estate Development Lead, the role will lead on the execution and sourcing role refurbishment and development Real Estate Investment activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the origination and lead the review (for technical input) and due diligence of conventional and innovative opportunities with refurbishment and development elements across Europe and across all asset classes to optimise fund returns. Transactions will include mid to large single asset purchases, portfolio acquisitions and development funding deals
Providing oversight and leading in relationships on technical matters with joint venture partners, contractors, external multi-disciplinary teams including design and construction, to deliver projects through design, planning and delivery
Responsible for the tender, negotiation, and award as well as management of external service providers (architects, specialist planners, construction companies, facility, and property managers)
Managing contractor/developer and third parties to deliver practical completion and occupancy, including ensuring planning conditions, statutory, third party, occupier and funder requirements are satisfied
Internal memo preparation and oversight of due diligence related to technical and development matters
Responsible for refurbishment, expansion and renovation measures as well as the handling of Capital Expenditure measures
Ensuring quality, deadlines and costs as part of the implementation of technical measures in the existing portfolio
Supporting asset management teams in preparing detailed development and conversion analyses, including cost-benefit calculations
Creation and monitoring of budget and project performance, and managing reporting on progress (progress reports, management reports, quality reports)
Support in identifying, appraising and recommending to internal investment committees, the purchase and disposal of specific investment properties (and corporate holding structures)
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong experience across a variety of real estate sectors such as Office, Retail, Living/Residential, Hotels and logistics
Well networked across the Real Estate sector with the ability to leverage market contacts to support access to off-market opportunities
Proven Real Estate development experience, with professional experience across technical asset management, project management or building construction
Understanding of planning and building regulations, best practices and industry standards
Ability to manage project budgets and timelines, with knowledge of risk management
Strong understanding of ESG and its impact on business operations
Strong numeracy skills, including ability to manage and formulate excel feasibility studies and understanding of divers of development/refurbishment viability
Experience of strategic economic thinking and strong negotiation and organization skills, working with both internal and external parties
Resilience and hard-working with interest and ability to work in a truly diverse investment environment on multiple projects
Articulate with strong presentation skills in order to serve an existing global client base as well as supporting the broader European business
Educated to degree level in a relevant field. A member of RICS or similar property related professional qualification would be desirable
