RCDS: Award Winning Service Trainee/Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist 37.5 hrs (fixed-term contract for 1 year in the first instance). ANNEX 21
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse with medical experience to work with the Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS). This role offers an excellent opportunity for you to work in an award winning service. You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic and a clinically skilled individual who has a keen interest in diagnostic and triage assessments. You will work as part of a wider team with Clinical Nurse Specialists and Patient Navigators in the diagnostic pathway to confirm or exclude cancer for patients presenting to an Urgent Suspicion of Cancer pathway (USC).
Playing a key role in the diagnostic pathway, you will be expected to deliver a high standard of patient centred care to patients and their families. You will be able to undertake assessments effectively and autonomously and be able to deliver work in a fast paced, high pressured environment. You will have responsibility for vetting and triaging referrals from primary or secondary care and be equipped to offer rapid communications to our service users for results of USC investigations. You will be working in a supportive environment, where you can achieve your full potential. Training will be offered. Experience within an acute medical setting would be an advantage.

Trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate which is dependent on the duration of the training period (see Terms and Conditions).
