We are looking to appoint a Ranger to work within the Ranger Service.
You will be working at the award-winning Yarrow Valley Country Park but will cover other parks and open spaces across the borough as well.
You will be helping to deliver a high-quality service both during the week and at weekends, you must be a team player and have had previous experience of working within a Ranger Service or carried out similar tasks.
What you’ll be getting up to
- Assist with the effective delivery of activities and events that promote the use of parks and open spaces.
- To assist the Ranger team to carryout the Tree Planting Project
- To assist the Senior Countryside Ranger with programmes of activities to encourage participation in countryside and outdoor recreation.
- To liaise with wildlife conservation groups and “friends”/advisory groups in the area providing advice, guidance and support on parks management.
- To encourage good behaviour by the public in accordance with the Country Code and byelaws and to ensure that no abuse of the Park and its facilities takes place.
- To monitor and deter any dangerous activities such as unauthorised swimming, boating or motorcycling and to co-operate with the emergency services in the event of accidents.
- To provide secure sites, open and unlock sites as required, and to implement courses of action which address issues of misuse or conflicts of use.
- To provide a site presence, to carry out physical repair and maintenance, and to ensure a safe, clean and well kept environment. To prevent and remove litter, dumping and graffiti.
- To organise and implement programmes to ensure community involvement and voluntary action is integrated into the work of the service.

- You’ll be operating various vehicles in this role, so you’ll need to have a valid driving licence.
