The Opportunity

We work for a great range of public sector and private sector clients including DfT, Great British Railways, HS2 Ltd, TOCs / FOCs and Local Authorities on a wide range of rail-based solutions. We are also deeply focused on a wide range of station and hub developments across the UK,

We are looking for a range of skills and grades – from junior to senior planners and creative thinkers, to join our growing national rail team particularly based out of our brand-new Birmingham Office!

The successful person will work collaboratively with our rail and wider transport teams across the country to deliver projects, bids and innovative approaches to get schemes off the ground.


Is this role right for you?

We are looking for candidates with experience and passion in developing Railway strategy and policy, planning, business case making and demand, operations and development of rail-based solutions.

Desirable competencies include Demand and Revenue Forecasting, Fares and Ticketing, Rail and Light Rail Operations and experience working with Operators and Industry Partners.


Essential Criteria

  • An overall general understanding and appreciation of railway planning and management, and an understanding of the inter-relationships between strategies, plans and delivery mechanisms (such as concessions, rail projects and the overall contractual matrix / regulatory framework) in the UK rail industry.
  • Experience in operational and strategic business case development, design, appraisal and evaluation of rail schemes.
  • Understanding of train performance data and analysis.
  • Experience in railway planning with an emphasis on operational planning / modelling.
  • Knowledge of timetable development processes and planning tools.
  • Understanding of the freight market and rail freight planning along with understanding of light rail planning and operations

We anticipate a successful candidate will have achieved a relevant tertiary qualification in an appropriate area of rail, transport, economics and business management and be a member of a relevant professional institution or professional peer body.
