Job description
We are seeking a motivated, hardworking individual to join the Radiotherapy Administration team at Peterborough City Hospital.
As an appointments co-ordinator, you will be responsible for a variety of clerical tasks. Duties and responsibilities outlined, whilst not definitive, include:
Autonomously interpreting/analysing information supplied by the referring Consultant
The scheduling of multiple appointments for each patient referred for Radiotherapy; taking into account various treatment options whilst still working to strict guidelines and cancer waiting targets
Obtaining medical reports/information from relevant hospitals/departments as requested by the Consultant
Dealing with complex queries either by telephone, email or face to face from a number of internal and external sources
General administration tasks that follow each patient through their radiotherapy journey
Input of data into numerous IT systems

Scheduling of all patient appointments, for both the pre-treatment and treatment areas; and the scheduling of regular reviews with a Radiographer and/or Consultant during and after treatment.
Book multiple appointments into a complex patient pathway taking into account various treatment options and routes to achieve the desired outcome whilst still working to strict targets and guidelines
Interpret (analyse and judge) information that is provided by the referring consultant on the radiotherapy referral forms to ensure that the patients receive the correct appointment scheduling regime for their diagnosis.
Answer telephone queries from patients/carers, staff, other professionals ensuring all calls are dealt with in a sensitive, confident and tactful manner, passing on calls requiring specialist knowledge to appropriate members of the Radiotherapy team.
Manage any administration queries received via email, telephone or electronic diary page from internal or external sources

Have a good level of written and verbal communication skills, excellent IT skills and be able to manage own workload effectively with minimal supervision.
The post-holder’s performance will be subject to regular review by way of annual competency assessment
The post-holder will be required to meet strict deadlines and undertake any other duties applicable to the post and grade as may be assigned.
