FULL TIME 37.5HRS / PART TIME HOURS CAN BE CONSIDERED
We are looking for a well-motivated Radiology Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. The position will support the Radiology service. Delivery of a high standard of patient care is an essential part of this role.
Starting pay point for this role is usually Band 2 pending completion of training period, at which point there would be uplift to Band 3. Current Band 3's with documented cannulation training & care certificate would be eligible to start at the Band 3 pay point.
Radiology provides imaging services to hospital wide clinical areas. Our areas include trauma and orthopaedic radiography, general x-ray work, theatre and interventional radiology. The Department also provides a full range of specialist services including Ultrasound, CT Scanning and Nuclear Medicine. Your role will be to assist the Sonographers, Radiographers and Radiologists in the delivery of these services ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained at all times.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom and be able to work flexible hours. We are looking for full time applicants. Ability to participate in 7 day working patterns is essential including evening sessions. All candidates must attend interview in person.
This is a training post, the successful applicant will be on the starting salary of a band 2 during the training. Once the applicant has completed the Care Certificate/ in-house training this will then be upgraded to Band 3.

- To assist the Radiologists/Radiographers/Radiology Nurses during patient examinations in the Radiology Department working within the scope of department procedures and practices.
- To be responsible for the care and comfort of the patient whilst in the Department and throughout their examination.
- To prepare and assist with general and specialised procedures.
- To train in cannulation and maintain adequate competence in it.
- To liaise with and maintain good working relationships with other disciplines of staff within the Trust and the Directorate.
- To maintain a high standard of communication with all patients/ visitors/external organisations to the Radiology Department and Trust.
- To communicate effectively with patients and carers providing an appropriate level of support particularly where there are barriers or difficulties with understanding and tact.
- To receive Team Brief monthly and attend monthly Departmental staff meetings when possible
- Keep up to date with all internal communications (trust, division and department memos, e-mails, newsletters, team brief).
- To report any breakdown or malfunction of equipment immediately to the relevant manager across Radiology.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
