The Great Western Hospital are currently looking to expand their Radiology department to support the recovery and current demand within diagnostics. The Radiology department has recently undergone a £5.5 million equipment replacement programme including replacement of X-Ray rooms, CT, Interventional and Mobile X-Ray equipment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for all Radiographers and any newly qualified or graduates due to qualify in 2023 to work with state-of-the-art equipment which will include a 5% recruitment and retention premium. We welcome all applications for anyone looking to kickstart their Radiographer career.
The Radiology Department undertakes approximately 251,300 examinations a year ranging over a variety of modalities. The successful applicant will be a keen team player who has image quality and patient care high on their agenda with a flexible approach to working hours. The department supports the development of your clinical skills and education, we encourage staff CPD.
The Great Western Hospital conducts diagnostic radiological examinations across a range of clinical specialties, adapting techniques to accommodate a range of patient types; both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team, in a manner that meets professional, departmental and legal requirements.

- To independently assess and justify referrals under IR(ME)R 2017 following practitioner guidelines where appropriate.
- To interpret Clinician’s requirements, to determine the appropriate radiographic imaging technique and ensure that it is performed in accordance with best practice and that the resultant images are diagnostic.
- To work out of hours to support the Radiology services offered at Great Western Hospitals; including night shifts.
- To undertake CT scans in the absence of a Radiologist according to agreed protocols.
- To use the departmental radiology information computer system (CRIS) as required and be conversant with the picture archive communication system (PACS)
