R&D Project Manager

The Opportunity
Due to the success of our Research and Development division and recent project wins we are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will manage 2/3 of the European/Nationally funded projects. Typically, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of projects that focus on the creation of community/city level decarbonisation tools.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
Project Management:
- Manage projects funded through EU H2020 funding programme where IES R&D are the partner
- Work with a team of research consultants and software developers to deliver the objectives of IES R&D on the project, within the budget and timeframe of the project
- Responsible for preparation and submission for IES R&D deliverables (i.e. technical reporting)
- Work with the financial administrator to ensure financial management of the project and that the work remains within budget
- Responsible for dissemination material and outreach, relating to IES R&D outputs
- Contribute to exploitation plan and product market route for the IES R&D outputs
- Work with the project partners and the overall project coordinator to deliver the goals of the overall project
- Attendance at meetings which may involve travel within the EU
- Coordination and management of meetings, which we are hosting
- Additionally, the role will also involve:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the IES R&D Ltd company
- Liaise with the proposal writing team to provide input and direction to future proposals and projects
- Networking activities in Ireland, EU and global to create new opportunities for IES R&D Ltd.
- Reporting R&D outcomes across all projects to R&D Director on a quarterly basis
The Candidate
Skills and experience include the following:
Essential Skills:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline such as Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Energy Engineering
- Previous project management experience
- Excellent written and verbal skills with a keen interest for research
- Ability to write technical reports to high quality
- Ability to work with spreadsheets for financial management
- Knowledge of building/energy modelling software such as the IES iCL suite of tools
- Excellent knowledge of the market relating to the decarbonisation of the built environment and/or previous experience working within this market
- Confident, assertive communicator with the ability to gain co-operation from client, internal staff and external partner.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience using building/energy modelling software such as IES VE
- Previous experience in a similar project management role would be advantageous
