Job Details
An R&D Manager to oversee the day to day running of a team of scientists, that deliver both physical and analytical testing, including GC FID, GC MS, HPLC - UV vis/ CAD, and Karl Fisher, for R&D projects. The team develop and validate the test methods in support of new product development. They also provide support to other areas of the business where non-routine testing may be required.
Key responsibilities
- To manage, motivate and develop the R&D team they manage.
- To manage the development, validation and performing physical and analytical tests, against business needs and personal objectives, to a defined time and budget.
- Ensure the R&D team have clear objectives to meet company needs.
- Maintaining ongoing compliance of R&D personnel, facilities, and activities with applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and company policies/ procedures.
- Ensuring R&D personnel maintain Safety practices and GMP/ GLP in company facilities.
- To ensure all methods developed have a maintained validation.
- To originate R&D documentation such as, but not limited to, protocols, and reports, when required.
- To review and approve documents generated by the R&D team, when necessary.
- To generate monthly reports on project, resource, and budget updates.
- To keep all stakeholders informed of R&D progress and issues.
- To ensure the R&D team provide appropriate support to other department objectives, including but not limited to, technology SME, stability, corrective and preventive actions, and audits.
- To analyse, mitigate and monitor project risks. To establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibilities for initiating corrective action.

- Proven record in method development.
- Ability to think innovatively to identify solutions.
- Experience of managing a team of scientists.
- Demonstrates ability to apply regulations without guidance.
- Able to work collaboratively and effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Driven to achieve results
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- It would be advantageous to have experience with developing gas chromatography test methods.
