A highly motivated and future thinking electronics design engineer who has in-depth experience in the disciplines of high voltage and analogue circuit design including PCB layout, with an in depth knowledge of EMC and Electrical Safety product related testing to achieve product level compliance. A working knowledge of EUMDR/FDA and worldwide regulatory compliance would be favorable.
This is an R&D post which not only involves New Product Development but also lead technology exploration and research through to application and realization of the portfolio roadmap. This individual will be expected to be a mentor and teacher to more junior staff members and be able to organize their work according to the demands of the business
Technical Responsibilities:
- Lead or mentor design and development of electrical components, sub-systems, and/or systems for medical devices.
- Apply and mentor others on advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts.
- Conduct, design, and select advanced prototyping and testing.
- Lead and guide in correction of complex product design issues.
- Conduct technology exploration and influence application in the business.
- Translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system level designs independently.
- Develop a number of invention disclosures, patents or trade secrets.
- Independently make design tradeoff decisions while designing multiple components of the system.
- Independently design and develop electrical components and sub-systems for medical devices.
- Develop and apply advanced circuit and electrical system test methods.
- Conduct or design advanced prototyping and testing.
- Conduct advanced problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against component and sub-system requirements.
- Conduct and design research and studies to support advanced product design.
- Translate user needs to design inputs/specifications and produce advanced component and sub-system level designs.
- Analyze and correct complex product design issues, using independent judgment.
- Design for EMC compliance and obtaining certification
- Design for manufacturing at a PCB and product level
Lead electrical safety and EMC compliance certification program
Technical Skills:
- Ability to lead or teach electrical engineers in electrical design.
- Advanced understanding of the design of complex components and sub-systems.
- Ability to apply advanced circuit and electrical system test methods.
- Advanced understanding of manufacturing and testing methods.
- Ability to apply standard technologies used in industry.
- Ability to perform complex electrical stackups.
- Advanced knowledge of sub-system, system, and environmental interactions.
Preferred Skills / Engineering tools:
- Understands the advanced theory and methods of analogue and digital design and can apply them independently while demonstrating:
- Ability to utilize various op-amp configurations including buffers, inverting, non-inverting, differential, summing, integrating, differentiating and transimpedance ·
- Expertise in filtering techniques, gain and attenuation circuits, and feedback and stability concepts
- Understanding of conversion of analog signals to digital and digital signals to analog
- Understanding of component selection criteria including tradeoffs between cost, function, availability and environmental concerns
- Ability to understand industry trends and utilize industry standard tools (e.g silicon expert) to identify end of life cycle components
- Understanding of different component parameters and their technical significance
- Ability to find alternative components by performing parametric comparison with existing component
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in EE or related discipline & 6+ years of relevant work experience
