R&D Chemist – Introduction
If you are a science graduate with R&D experience within the chemical industry, ideally in the area of coatings, this is a great opportunity to join a world class R&D function and develop a career in a company that is a world expert in making coatings. We are now looking for a R&D Chemist to become involved in coatings development for the Food, Caps & Closures and General Line metal packaging market.
R&D Chemist – The Role
- Serve customer needs
- Modify existing formulations to meet market requirements
- Contribute to new product development
- Troubleshoot customer issues
- Provide manufacturing support & undertake cost effectiveness programmes
- Plan & organise lab-work on a weekly basis
- Formulate, prepare, apply & test the mechanical & chemical properties of coatings using established tests or relevant research methods/procedures
- Document results clearly & accurately, interrogate data, draw conclusions & present solutions
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment
R&D Chemist – About You
- Science graduate
- Excellent practical & laboratory skills
- Experience in the formulation, manufacture, application, testing of coatings and development of new & improved research methodologies
- Good at problem solving
- Excellent communication, report writing & interpersonal skills
- Enjoys a collaborative work environment where supporting colleagues is key
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry, principles & practice is an advantage
