Overview

This role is a critical component in supporting the design, specification and growth of a successful and sustainable Instant & Bulk Payment customer implementation in the UK that is able to respond to and leverage the significant benefits associated with VocaLink within MasterCard.

This role will be focused on supporting a strategic Vocalink project in the UK, based in London, as a designated representative of Global Product. The role will be accountable for ensuring that the customer and the project group has everything needed to execute a successful client engagement, from initial customer engagement in Elaboration, through design & specification to supporting implementation and growth.

Director, Product Management, working alongside Director, Product Management EMEA, is accountable for the product implementation strategy for this customer in UK (and, subsequent stages, other markets) for our Instant Payments product suite and hub propositions (including IPS, BPS and PDS). Director Product Management delivers profitable, scalable and repeatable product implementation strategies and specifications for this UK customer that exceed markets’ expectations, aligns with our product roadmap, that our Sales team can therefore sell and that our delivery and development teams can successfully deliver.

Role

The Director, Product Management is accountable for ensuring that all business targets are met achieved through the successful solution design, product configuration and localisation and implementation of our product and services in UK.
  • Accountability for ensuring that the Business has the right product specifications and implementation assets, at the right time to achieve the business’ strategic objectives.
  • Supporting the UK teams with customer and sector / market engagement that lead solution design, and coordinated feedback and input to support product evolution, ensuring that customer and market knowledge is captured and fed back into global roadmaps where appropriate.
  • Develop clear understanding of customer and market requirements for products implementations. With structured input from the customer / markets, including repeatable discovery processes.
  • Assess and align the UK customer’s Instant and Bulk Payment implementations with our product offering and roadmaps.
  • To manage client implementation approaches, from the identification of a market / customer requirement and possible revenue or efficiency streams, through product implementation feasibility and definition of specifications to providing guidance and supporting product development, launch, servicing and retirement.
  • To work with Product team and hold to account delivery and development teams against agreed P&Ls.
  • To foster a world class Product commercialisation and implementation management function; fostering a culture of success and collaboration. Lead as part of the team that acts as the cross-company orchestrators of delivery and management of products; recognised leaders that build virtual teams across Delivery, Finance, Sales, Development, Operations and Marketing.
  • To motivate, inspire and give clear direction to cross functional teams to encourage exceptional results and overall job performance.

  • Experience in managing development of products with / for tier 1 banks.
  • Broader payments market background, capable of articulating a vision and distil this to tactical and operational requirements and specifications.
  • A strategic thinker who can develop plans for successful delivery of challenging objectives. Commits to business objectives and pulls out the stops to make sure they are always met.
  • A strong communicator and influencer, from executive level through to technical level.
  • An agile mind with the ability to absorb and interpret technical and business information and manage complex / challenging negotiations.
  • A builder of bridges who can identify a route to a solution across a complex environment.
  • A ‘can-do’ and ‘will-do’ attitude. The ability to build cross-functional relationships and to work, under pressure, with different teams.
  • A commercial focus that leads to corporate growth through proven experience of business case development, revenue generation and cost control.
